1st Century Roman Pompeii Sword
1st Century Roman Pompeii Sword
The Pompeii short sword has a blade of high carbon steel and a hilt of wood. The pommel cap is brass and the felt tab fitted atop the guard protects the guard from being blemished from contact with the scabbard - it can be removed if needed. This Gladius-length sword is based on a 1st century sword kept in Aalen Museum.
The wood-core scabbard is bound in brown leather and finished with brass accents and hanging rings. The embellished steel-and-brass decorative plates are fitted on a single side of the scabbard.
