Armory Manufacturer Focus: Kolser
Armory is pleased to announce our new partnership with Kolser. Located on the beautiful island of Menorca, Spain, Kolser has been manufacturing decorative reproduction antique guns since 1970. Selected from museums around the world, these non-firing replica guns have a realistic simulated firing mechanism that separates this company from its rivals. Below are two examples of what we will be carrying in early 2023.
Kolser Mare’s Leg
The Mare’s Leg was originally a customized shortened Winchester 1892 Rifle that was carried by Steve McQueen and made popular on the television series Wanted: Dead or Alive (1958–1961) but has since become a generic term for any Winchester rifle that has a shortened barrel and stock.
As with anything tied to Steve McQueen, the Mare’s leg quickly became an icon in Hollywood and began popping back up in films and television series like Zombieland, Archer, and Westworld. This iconic gun also made a cameo in the 1987 film Wanted: Dead or Alive starring Rutger Hauer, and It has also been featured in video games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and Battlefield 4 furthering its reach to another generation of gun enthusiasts.
Kolser 1873 Army Revolver
This reproduction of the famous Peacemaker is designed in exacting detail and sure to please any gun connoisseur. Originally designed by Colt in 1872, this government service revolver was adopted by the US Army as the standard-issued pistol from 1873 until 1892. While its overall appearance has remained consistent since 1872, this single action revolver was produced with many different barrel lengths and in several various calibers.
Every Kolser replica has been carefully reproduced and is designed to connect the past with the present. With its realistic action, Kolser is redefining the replica gun market today.
