ArmaLite, Inc. first developed the military rifle that would go on to become the popular AR-15 in the late 1950s. Colt bought their patent in 1959, and used it in 1963 to produce weapons for the U.S. Military, and these automatic rifles named the M-16 soon became the standard issue rifles used in the Vietnam War. Because of the popularity, Colt began manufacturing them for public and law enforcement use, changing them from an automatic to a semiautomatic and renaming it to the AR-15. In the 1970s, when Colt’s patent expired, other manufacturers began producing similar models and all rifles in this style were called AR-15s.
This mini die cast metal AR-15 is painted in the popular “Flat Dark Earth” paint scheme. Resembling the soil and sand found in the desert, militaries around the world have adopted this muted, khaki, earth-toned color into their uniforms and equipment. With three adjustable stock positions, a moveable charging handle and ejection port, and a metal magazine that has a functioning release, this 1:3 scale model is sure to impress even the most discerning of collectors. While our models do not fire, they do have a working selector switch and adjustable sights on Picatinny rails. Each model kit comes unassembled, with easy-to-follow instructions and a trophy stand to display your AR-15 when it is complete. We also have accessories like our 4x scope so you can customize your piece.
